ไส้เทียนหรือ shadow คือเส้นบางด้านบนและด้านล่างของตัวแท่ง ไส้บนลากถึงราคาสูงสุดของช่วง ไส้ล่างลากถึงราคาต่ำสุด แสดงช่วงราคาที่เคยซื้อขายแต่ไม่ได้ยืนอยู่ตอนปิดแท่ง
ตัวอย่าง (สมมติ)
แท่งสมมติเปิดที่ 20.0 ขึ้นไปถึง 21.5 แล้วปิดที่ 20.2 ไส้บนจาก 20.2 ถึง 21.5 บันทึกว่าราคาที่สูงขึ้นไปนั้นไม่ได้ยืนอยู่ตอนปิดแท่ง

Definition
Wicks, also called shadows, are the thin lines above and below the body. The upper wick reaches the period's high and the lower wick reaches its low, showing prices that traded but were not held at the close.
Example (hypothetical)
A hypothetical candle opens at 20.0, trades up to 21.5, then closes at 20.2. The upper wick from 20.2 to 21.5 records that the higher prices were not held by the close.
