ใน smart money concepts (SMC) การทะลุโครงสร้างคือราคาวิ่งผ่าน swing high ล่าสุดในขาขึ้น (หรือ swing low ล่าสุดในขาลง) ตีความว่าโครงสร้างเดิมยังต่อเนื่อง ส่วนการทะลุสวนเทรนด์มักเรียกว่า change of character (CHoCH) นิยามว่าอะไรนับเป็นการทะลุต่างกันไปตามผู้เขียน

Definition
In smart money concepts (SMC), a break of structure is price moving beyond the most recent swing high in an uptrend (or swing low in a downtrend), read as continuation of the existing structure. A break against the trend is usually called a change of character (CHoCH). Definitions of what counts as a break vary between authors.
Example (hypothetical)
In a hypothetical uptrend, the last swing high is 82.0. A candle closes at 82.6, so a trader using a close-based rule marks a bullish BOS.
